The prostate is an important organ that often becomes inflamed. The reason for this is an unhealthy lifestyle, infections, bacteria, lack of sex and lack of exercise. You can manage prostatitis at home. The main thing is to choose the right treatment method and strictly follow the recommendations of doctors.
When should you think about therapy?
Depending on the cause of the inflammatory process, there are different types of prostatitis. When pathogenic microorganisms penetrate the glandular tissue, bacterial pathology occurs, and with regular stagnation of prostate secretion, stagnant pathology occurs. The signs of both types are the same. They develop quite quickly and have a pronounced clinical picture.
Symptoms of the disease:
- Malaise, pain in the groin, perineum, radiating to the scrotum, lower back and lower abdomen;
- increased urge to urinate;
- change in the amount of urine excreted;
- impaired potency – premature ejaculation, weak erection;
- pain during ejaculation;
- Impurities of blood or pus in semen;
- discharge from the urethra;
- intermittent stream of urine;
- Pain, burning when urinating;
- general weakness;
- Increase in body temperature.
Important!
It is important not to miss the first symptoms of the disease. Early treatment increases the chance of a full recovery. If chronic prostatitis develops, therapy is lengthy and laborious.
Methods for treating prostatitis at home
You can fight prostatitis at home with the help of:
- medication;
- traditional medicine;
- physical movement;
- additional procedures.
Any method requires strict adherence to the doctor's recommendations and careful action so as not to aggravate the situation.
Medicines for prostatitis approved for self-use
The choice of medication for drug therapy depends on the cause of the disease. If prostatitis is of a bacterial nature, you cannot do without broad-spectrum antibiotics and antimicrobial agents. In case of congestive pathology, drugs are selected that are aimed at combating inflammation, normalizing blood circulation and stimulating the emptying of prostate contents.
The most common groups of drugs that successfully treat prostatitis:
- Antibiotics.Drugs from the group of fluoroquinolones are prescribed more often. So that the doctor can choose the right medication, a culture is taken from the patient's urethra in the hospital. A test is carried out in the laboratory to determine the sensitivity of the identified pathogenic microflora to various types of antibiotics and only then a drug is prescribed;
- Alpha-adrenergic blockers.They relax the smooth muscles around the prostate and urethral canal, making urination easier and reducing pressure on the gland. This helps relieve pain and discomfort;
- Painkiller.During the exacerbation of the pathology, the patient feels severe pain, so it is necessary to eliminate it to alleviate the condition.
- Muscle relaxants.Relaxes the muscles in the perineal area. This reduces pressure on internal organs, including the prostate;
- Hormones.Prescribed for the prevention of pathological proliferation of prostate tissue with increased testosterone production in a man's body;
- Herbal medicine.They are used in the initial stages of the disease or as part of complex therapy to enhance the effect of basic medications. Products made from natural extracts, extracts from plants, herbs, roots and seeds improve blood circulation, relieve inflammation and swelling;
- Vitamin and mineral complexes.Necessary to strengthen immunity and the body's natural resistance.

Self-massage
One of the most effective methods of treating prostatitis, especially stagnant prostatitis, is massage. There are two types: rectal and external. The first occurs through the anus, the second – externally, in the perineal area.
In order for a man to carry out such a procedure on his own, he needs a special device - a rectal massager. It is inserted into the anus and the prostate is massaged with careful movements.
The devices differ in the type of impact – magnetic, sending electrical pulses, vibration and laser. You can buy them at specialty pharmacies or medical equipment stores.
Important!
The therapeutic effect of massage is achieved by improving tissue blood flow, stimulating the outflow of prostatic secretion and complete emptying of the gland. The swelling gradually subsides and urination becomes painless.
The external method is not as effective because it does not directly affect the gland. But it is possible to do it yourself and without any equipment. With clean hands, massage the area between the scrotum and anus with pressing movements for 5 minutes. This should be done 2-3 times a day.
Contraindications to massage:
- the presence of hard stones in the prostate cavity;
- malignant neoplasms;
- stage of exacerbation of prostatitis;
- severe pain during the procedure.
Prostate massage should be carried out very carefully so as not to damage the delicate tissue of the prostate through careless movements.
Physical education against inflammation of the prostate
A set of exercises to combat prostatitis:
- Lie on your back on a hard surface. Wrap your arms around your bent legs so that your knees are near your head. Stay like this for 2-3 minutes. Over time it is necessary to increase the execution time to 20 minutes;
- Lie on your stomach with your arms stretched out in front of you, your legs straight and tense. Lift your feet off the ground as far as possible. Perform 10-15 such exercises. Gradually increase to 30x to 50x.
- Properly performed squats increase blood circulation in the prostate and pelvic area very well. They have to be deep. You need to do 20 to 50 squats, 2-3 sets every five minutes;
- Sit on the floor with your legs straight and your buttocks tense. When you move your legs, you have to "walk" back and forth like this.
- Standing with your hands on your belt, rotate your pelvis first in one direction and then in the other direction 15 times.
It is recommended to do gymnastics in the morning after waking up. At night, the prostate secretion stagnates and becomes a good breeding ground for pathogenic bacteria.
Microclysters
The procedure is carried out to ensure rapid penetration of useful substances into the prostate tissue. Doctors prescribe various medications or herbal decoctions for this.
Execution rules:
- Hands and utensils must be washed. It is better to boil the rubber ball for 10 minutes;
- The temperature of the solutions should be comfortable – 37-38 degrees;
- To carry out a micro-enema, about 50 ml of medicinal decoction is required;
- Before the procedure, you need to cleanse the intestines with a cleansing enema;
- Lie on your back in the bath with your legs bent at the knees and pressed to your stomach;
- Lubricate the tip with petroleum jelly or vegetable oil;
- Insert carefully into the anal canal;
- Squeeze out the contents of the microenema and remain in this position for 10-15 minutes.
- After the procedure, wash the pear and boil it.
It is important to proceed carefully so as not to damage the sphincter and rectum.
Dietary nutrition as an additional way to combat prostatitis
To fully recover from prostatitis and prevent a relapse, you must adhere to the principles of proper nutrition. It is recommended to exclude from the daily diet foods that cause obesity, fluid stagnation, constipation or bloating in the intestines.
It is also important to fill the menu with fresh vegetables, fruits and products that contain a high concentration of vitamins, minerals and organic acids. This comprehensive approach will help speed recovery.
What you should not eat during treatment:
- Products containing caffeine – coffee, strong tea, chocolate;
- Fatty meats – pork, lamb;
- Legumes cause increased gas formation. For this reason, the intestine compresses the prostate;
- Salt. It must be limited so as not to cause swelling of the soft tissue as it retains fluid in the body;
- Alcohol.
Important!
Another piece of advice from doctors is to drink enough water. Dehydration causes the secretion to thicken, making it difficult to leave the prostate and causing stagnation.
Relapse prevention
It is not enough to cure prostatitis. It is also important to prevent such a disease from recurring. According to medical statistics, in 60% of cases a man experiences recurrent inflammation.
You can forget about prostatitis forever by following basic preventive measures:
- Timely detection of diseases of the body;
- Weight control. Excessive body weight contributes to stagnation of prostate secretions;
- Regular, protected sex life;
- Active recreation – walking in the fresh air, swimming in the pool, skiing, cycling;
- Right nutrition;
- Perform light exercises;
- Limit consumption of alcoholic beverages and cigarettes.
